Coin de Mire is a bulky, wedgeshape island which, with its highest point reaching 163m, dominates views from most parts of the north coast. it lies outside the coral reef, nearly 4km from Cap Malheureux.

The Pamplemousses Gardens are known to naturalists throughout the world for their large collection of indigenous and exotic plants, including the giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies and many species of palm trees.
